What is Dancing on a Cloud and How Can it Enhance Your Wedding?

Dancing on a Cloud

As a full-service entertainment company, it’s our goal to make every event we are involved in memorable for our clients and their guests. Whether it’s with music, lighting, or fog, we want to wow every individual from the moment they walk in the door.

One of the best ways to get your guests attention is by surprising them with the dancing on a cloud effect during your first dance. But, how exactly is the low-lying fog made?

We use a machine that we fill with steaming water to create dry ice, which produces thick, white smoke that resembles fluffy clouds. The dry ice that turns from a solid into a gas is called sublimation. In the past, fog machines were popularly used for this cause. However, the fog would often rise to the ceiling, leaving a gross residue and triggering both smoke alarms and sprinklers. As a result, many venues banned that particular method.

The dry ice machine is a much better option over a fog machine because it doesn’t leave an oily residue, there is no unpleasant smell, and the clouds will stay low, eventually dissipating. No mess to clean up afterward and no need to be concerned that someone could get hurt by slipping on the dance floor.

How Does a Dry Ice Machine Work?

Typically, a basin that is filled with water is brought to a boil until the water in the basin is heated, turning into dry ice. As the newlyweds make their way onto the dance floor, we start to fill the area around them with a layer of low-lying fog. As we continue to lower the basket to the lowest level in the basin, the cloud effect increases. The clouds usually last 5-10 minutes, giving you plenty of time to complete your first dance.

The dancing on a cloud effect is an excellent way to add a dramatic look to the dance floor, and it also looks amazing in both photos and videos. If you and your future spouse are interested in giving the illusion that you are dancing in the clouds, this unique effect is perfect for you.
